This Friday Virtual Happy Hour...
Friday September 25th at 5 PM!
During this Friday's Virtual Happy Hour our special guest Christine Brewer, event coordinator for the Susi Q. Christine will bring us up to date on all the activities at the Susi Q, their response to COVID 19 and their plans for the future.
Christine Brewer has been working with Laguna Beach Seniors at the Susi Q Center since 2009 when she took the position as Volunteer Coordinator. She brought to LBS 10 years of Corporate Administrative experience. She has always enjoyed working with the community and was thrilled to join an organization that truly cares about the well-being of seniors and their mission to enhance the lives of seniors through programs, services and support that promotes independence.
Throughout her tenure, she has seen Laguna Beach Seniors continuously grow over the years. With that growth, she became more involved with programming and fundraisers and was happy to assume additional responsibilities, which now makes her position the Program/Event/Volunteer Coordinator for LBS.
Christine always looks forward to going to work and having the opportunity to serve the community, work with wonderful colleagues and volunteers. She considers herself fortunate to have such a rewarding career.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Our first concern is the health and well-being of our members. With that in mind and with the many professional indications regarding the health risks and the spread of the caronavirus (COVID-19), all our events have been postponed until we feel it is safe and appropriate to re-schedule.
The NCOA, (National Council on Aging) suggests the following:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces every day.
Unfortunately, scammers are taking advantage of fears surrounding the coronavirus, (COVID-19). The Federal Trade Commission has identified several of them and is offering tips to protect yourself and others. These include watching for emails claiming to be from the CDC saying they have information about the virus and ignoring online offers for vaccinations. There currently are no vaccines, pills, potions, lotions, lozenges, or other prescription or over-the-counter products available to treat or cure COVID-19 online or in stores.
If you receive an email asking you to donate to a nonprofit that is fighting the coronavirus, make sure to research the organization first through an independent charity rating service such as Charity Navigator.
AND LASTLY... As we all work hard to stay in good health, everyone here at Susi Q and Club Q wish our friends and loved ones a safe journey through this "health risk cycle" that we know as the coronavirus, We look to the future when we will once again enjoy the continued friendship and camaraderie of our social events!
